What is the price for the PS3 console?
Ken Kutaragi has left a multitude
of questions for potential buyers to ponder until E3 and the
November world-wide launch.
Widespread speculation has set a price of 50000 Yen ($424 USD)
for the console, which would support a 499 USD price tag. However,
this is still speculation.
Game makers feel Sony will try to stay in line with Microsoft,
offering the PS3 for just $399. However, those that say the
PS3 will cost $399 are wishful thinkers.
The PS3 will feature other pricey items, such as a hard drive,
the Cell processor and a new graphics chip from nVidia.
The strongest argument behind
the $499 price point is the PS3's inclusion of a Blu-Ray drive.
This bleeding edge technology will give Sony significant bragging
rights, but it comes at a cost. Pioneer at the January 2006
Consumer Electronics Show unveiled a standalone Blu-Ray player
for $1,800.
Launch titles were not released.
Ken Kutaragi, president and chief executive of Sony
Computer Entertainment Inc left out what the system actually
runs.
Let's talk about Metal Gear 4 already!
PS3 Online and the 60gb
HDD, why?
Talk about PS3 online was minimal, although it seems that many
features from current online gaming will be incorporated, such
as messengers, and free online gaming.
